EchoWE is a product of IDEO Open Music Initiative that is designed by our team in 2017 Summer Lab. Our team members are: Megan Griffith (market researcher), Luís Claudio Arcos (musician), Xueqi Zhang (developer), Soma Suzuki (developer), and me (graphic designer).
The mission of our team is commercializing mix-tapes built from original material and back catalogs. We explored potential uses for the OMI API and how we might use distributed ledgers to help reshape the music industry. As a result, we created EchoWE, a marketplace that enables the copyright holders of the music to set where and how their music gets used which also helps and inspires derivative work creators to license music easily.
After developing the basic EchoWE structure, my challenge was to build the frontend and backend user flow with our developers, and design the web pages that allow the licensees to navigate through the licensing process.
